Poetic encounters: “Words (can) do it”

Takis Papatsonis (1895-1976) is considered among the pioneers of Modern Greek poetry. He was first published in 1914 and he started writing poetry in free verse from 1920. A selection of his work entitled “Selection I – Ursa Minor – Selection II” that he self-published is still today in circulation. He is also the translator of works by T.S. Eliot, Paul Claudel, Friedrich Hölderlin and more.

For the event, nine poets select, read and comment poems by Takis Papatsonis: Orfeas Apergis, Linos Ioannidis, Panayotis Ioannidis, Dimitra Kotoula, Pavlina Marvin, Iro Nikopoulou, Yannis Patilis, Christos Siorikis and Thomas Tsalapatis. Ismene Karyotaki presents the poet’s life and work.
